Grumpy Daddy

My 3 year old little girl just drew a picture of me and titled it “Grumpy Daddy”. I was blown away when she showed it to me and blurted out, “Sadie… this is amazing! Great job! I’m going to put it on my website!”

And now to keep my word…

What do you think, should I make some t-shirts up put the money towards Sadie’s college fund?

I’d buy one for sure.

I’m hopefully screen printing some shirts tomorrow with my daughter… same thing, they draw the coolest stuff!

What are you grumpy about?

I’ll take 2!

Sadie is turning out to be quite the artist Jess, but to be honest, that’s not a surprise! I’m holding onto that abstract piece she gave me a few months ago. Now go eat some chewy candy and stop being such a grump.

I think she’s ready to start writing her article for the Working Designer column.

Yeah, I’d get one too! It certainly described me last night!

I’d buy one, at least until i’m not maried and don’t have my own children.

It’s interesting, because there are only a few lines, but they could express more than a lot of sentences of an adult person, who would write something about you. Think, that she could now draw also a “Happy Daddy” after she showed you this.

Childs feel free to drop some lines or give back what they think, hope that a college don’t make her scared by adding some rules, you just have to give them some pencils, right ;-)

Hey, Jesse. It could be a whole series: Grumpy Daddy, Happy Daddy, Sad Daddy, Mad Daddy, etc. My oldest isn’t quite two yet, so I have a ways to go before we get to the ‘Grumpy Daddy’ stage.

When I sit down with Sadie to draw or paint, I like to ask her the question “What are you going to make today Sadie?” because she always answers “I will know when I’m finished”. Reminds me of my design process sometimes ;)

I’m not sure why I’m so grumpy in the illustration, but it might have something to do with the spiky object protruding from my right eye.

EVERY time she hands me a drawing now, she says “You can put this on your website!” I think I’m going to make her a website of her own where she can post her daily creations.

I’m impressed your 3-year-old did that; she’s one to keep an eye on, indeed. She sounds like a fantastic little girl – mine surprises me everyday and she is not even 2 yet. Wonderful treasures.

My two boys love to draw & create art. I actually did make them a website to display their artwork. The only problem is that we haven’t taken the time to actually collect it all and add it to the site. This is a good kick in the butt for me to start scanning.

Here’s the site in case you want to take a look.

Jesse, your daughter is talented :)

Nick - May 02, 2007

Yes: make a website with her designs.
I’m thinking of that for my children for 3 years now… never started…
And Yes: produce a nice tee to buy.
Looking forward :-)

Man, that is so funny. My oldest (6) is very into drawing me and my various emotional states. LOL!
